Angela and Carlo: From the Mat to the Altar

“You are like the embodiment of 1 Corinthians 13:4-7,” Angela told Carlo as she read her vows. For this couple, getting married to each other just made sense.

The Engagement

Angela and Carlo had three engagement shoots — all of which captured their personalities as individuals and as a couple.

The first shoot had a “Peaky Blinders” theme, with both looking striking in their sharp outfits. The couple explained that this theme comes from Carlo’s love for Tom Hardy and his “strange affinity” toward “bread, beards, and [outfits like these]”.

The second shoot encapsulated two things: how they met and how much they wanted to unleash their carefree spirits.

Putting on their jiu-jitsu gear, Angela and Carlo headed to one of Cebu’s most picturesque locales and did some jiu-jitsu poses — poses that honor the martial art that led them to each other.

In addition to that, they also wanted to let loose. “We wanted to roll. It was a long time since we wanted to roll due to the global health crisis,” the couple said.

The third shoot honored one thing they both love: coffee. “We wanted an outside feels with drinking coffee,” they shared.

Angela and Carlo revealed how they enjoyed their engagement shoot, and as they put it, they were able to work with “a talented crew of the city’s finest artists.”

The Wedding

The couple went for an earth-tone theme because of their love for earthy colors. Their lovely ceremony was at The Ocean Pavilion at Shangri-La Mactan, while the reception was held at the hotel/resort’s The Marquee.

As theirs was a pandemic wedding, Angela and Carlo were overjoyed to see people they hadn’t seen in a long time all reunited in one room.

The Vows

If there’s one thing we learned from Angela and Carlo’s wedding, it’s that we become our best selves when we’re with the one we love.

“Thank you … for believing and guiding me through my foolish times. Without you by my side, I’m more prone to road rage,” Carlo said during his vows.

“You have been so patient with me. You never hover or invade my personal space, never get angry easily, and never get unreasonably jealous. You have always been easy to talk to, and you continuously feed my curious mind,” Angela said during hers. “Your love and trust make me a better person each and every day.”

Angela and Carlo are each other’s 1 Corinthians 13:4-7. Whatever happens, love is patient. Love is kind.
